Music, Dance, Theater, Circus arts

The boundaries between the various disciplines of the performing arts are fluid, and this is precisely what makes this field so exciting and varied. Every artist is in his own way a specialist in his profession, but at the same time a professional at all levels of the arts. This makes him unique. Over time, the number of individualists who pursue such an education increases steadily. The spectrum ranges from dancers, musicians and choreographers to sound engineers.

In France, culture has a particularly high status. Education in the fields of music, dance, theatre and circus arts is highly regarded and financially affordable, as the state attaches importance to the democratisation of the arts. There is no standard period for the studies, since it depends on the entrance level and the respective discipline. A dancer, for example, is usually trained at the age of 18.

The prerequisite for enrolment at the various conservatories consists of demanding and wide-ranging entrance examinations.
If you want to become a professional dancer, you can study at different conservatoires, depending on your training focus. Excellent training is offered at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Lyon or in Paris. The Centre National de la Danse Contemporaine in Angers is ideal for studying contemporary dance.

There is also no lack of training in theatre in France. Whether in Brittany at the Ecole du théâtre national de Bretagne, in Saint-Étienne at the Ecole du Centre dramatique national de Saint-Étienne or at the Ecole régionale d’acteurs in Cannes, there are schools all over France.

The Centre National des arts du cirque in Châlons-en-Champagne or the Académie nationale contemporaine des arts du cirque Annie Fratellini in Saint-Denis La Plaine are ideal artists for a circus or street theatre.

The university also offers training in the field of art. Many such as Paris 1, 8, 4, 10, Strasbourg, Bordeaux or Rennes have set up a course of study specifically for art. Often different subject combinations are offered, such as the disciplines of art and philosophy, aesthetics, philology or other disciplines of the humanities.
